Week 10
This week in lab we started by discussing the previous weeks reading assignment and the key takeaways that we had from responding to the prompts. We talked a lot about how 3 dimensional learning best supports student science learning and how teachers can adapt to teach science using these methods. We also talked about how technology can be used in the science classroom. Specifically, we talked about the benefits and drawbacks that activities like simulations can have. Lastly, we worked on a group activity with the topic of evolution at the forefront. We created a brief children's book that explained an evolution concept and included engaging images. This activity was a lot of fun and I enjoyed seeing everyones final products when they presented.
I think it would be fun to apply this activity in a future science classroom. Students could work in small groups to create a brief children's book about whichever science concept you are studying. With the help of AI, students can also include cool images into their books. It would be great for the students to present their books to the whole class or even to a group of younger aged students.
I was able to relate this information to what I already learned about evolution through this course and other science courses. It is clear that evolution is necessary and beneficial to the survival of living organisms. I had not learned much specifically about the evolution of dogs from wolves into domesticated house pets. Humans seem to be greatly responsible for dogs as we know them today. Are there other animals that humans have had this impact on?
Great post Matt! That is a really great point about humans being the prime reason for wolves evolving to house dogs. I also wonder if other animals have evolved because of humans!
ReplyDeleteAwesome post, Matt! Your insight on humans driving wolf-to-dog evolution is fascinating. I'm curious if we influenced other animal adaptations too!
ReplyDeleteHi Matt! Loved your presentation its so cute! Really fun to see how dogs evolved from wolves with a fun storyline!
ReplyDeleteHi Matt, this is a great post! I really like your storybook presentation. I agree that this activity would be a great tool to use in the classroom for students to present their knowledge and understanding on a topic.
